• Tandem view diminishes the risk factors for the point man/camera operator since the helmet mounted video monocle has no visible glow from the video screen

Tactical missions are typically conducted using expertly coordinated teams, whose members benefit greatly from the instant dissemination of situational status. Zistos has developed the Tandem View Display Configuration to increase the safety and effectiveness of a tactical team.

Zistos’ covert cameras and articulating poles provide the safe distance from which to stealthily observe, but Tandem View expands that surveillance effort. The Tandem View features a multiple video display solution that has two main benefits; it increases the safety of the point man, while raising the situational awareness of the other team members.

The point man on a tactical team is usually holding a video camera tool and is responsible for positioning the camera to make a visual assessment of the situation. The other members of the tactical team are usually situated behind and rely on feedback from him to communicate status. The point man as the leading man in a potentially hostile environment is at greatest risk. The visible glow from a video display can be a significant liability in that it can both compromise the stealth of the team and “light up” the point man as a potential target.

The Zistos Video Monocle, a helmet mounted miniature LCD, is the display device of choice because it allows the point man to observe his immediate environment with one eye while viewing the video image with the other eye with no telltale glow. A second 5” LCD monitor that is mounted on the back of his vest can be switched on or off independently allowing other team members to see what he is seeing in real time. No verbal or hand signal instructions are required to communicate complex situations or potential threats to the team.

Extra wireless monitors can be added as required to expand the video surveillance to any number of other team members or even a command post.
